Why ActiMaris®
In memory of Dr. Damir Marincic
(November 9, 1943 – June 4, 2026†)
It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Dr. Damir Marincic.
He was a brilliant physician, scientist, and visionary. As a co-developer of the ActiMaris complex, he was the person who knew the most about ActiMaris. He devoted his entire career to the question of how healing truly works—driven by the conviction that nature holds the oldest and wisest answers. True to his guiding principle: Simple medical solutions designed by nature.
The sea was both his source of inspiration and his starting point. “The sea is not only the source of life; it is life itself,” he used to say. From this inspiration emerged a technology that today helps people around the world with hard-to-heal wounds.
Damir never thought of the familiar coastline. Magellan’s words—“Those who stay on the coast cannot discover new oceans”—served as his guiding principle. With tireless curiosity, scientific depth, and a big, warm heart, he constantly blazed new trails and took us along on this journey.
We have lost an extraordinary person—a father, mentor, colleague, and friend. His legacy lives on: in every product, in every person it helps, and in all of us.
