Our contribution to World Diabetes Day 2020
A targeted, curative and successful local therapy of non-healing diabetic wounds with ActiMaris® products.
Simple and natural wound healing on REDOX and bio-physical basis.
Diabetes is called a “global health problem” (IDF), also in view of the high number of people who are not diagnosed or are diagnosed too late.
Diabetes is a global epidemic disease of the 21st century with currently about 460 million people (2019), 90% of whom have type 2 diabetes. 5% of these diabetics develop diabetic foot ulcers every year and 1% of these require a foot/leg amputation. Worldwide, more than 1.1 million children and adolescents under the age of 20 live with type 1 diabetes.
Often considered a comorbid condition, chronic wounds are also representatives of a “silent” epidemic (rather pandemic) with almost 450 million patients with chronic wounds of varying aetiology worldwide.
25 billion US dollars are spent annually on the treatment of chronic wounds in the USA alone and 760 billion US dollars worldwide. The immense economic and social impact of chronic wounds in our society requires a better understanding of the underlying patho-physiological mechanisms of development in order to provide successful treatment.
Diabetes disease belongs to the so-called metabolic syndrome (metabolic disorder). Metabolic processes have components of redox control such as diabetes type 2 and wound healing.
According to recent scientific findings and hypothesis (Nobel Prize winner James D. Watson, 2014), diabetes type 2 is a redox disease. The basic cause is a metabolic failure to generate enough biological oxidants. For these reasons, the ActiMaris® complex (with active oxygen, ROS substances and redos signalling) is of particular importance as an ideal local wound therapeutic for diabetic foot wounds (ulcers).
Product profile ActiMaris®-complex for prophylaxis and therapy of the mucous membrane, skin and wounds
In the ActiMaris® products, the cleansing power as well as tissue swelling (with improved blood circulation and oxygenation) and germ reduction can be attributed not only to individual ingredients, but to the interaction of the entire content/complex.
